A five-year roadmap to strengthen clinical nutrition services across Pakistan through education, research, leadership, and collaboration — establishing PSPEN as the national authority in nutrition support.

The Pakistan Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (PSPEN) is dedicated to strengthening clinical nutrition services across Pakistan through education, research, leadership, and collaboration. The Society's strategic goals for 2026–2031 are designed to establish PSPEN as the national authority in nutrition support and a respected contributor to the global clinical nutrition community.

Our 12 Strategic Goals

Advance Clinical Excellence

Promote evidence-based parenteral and enteral nutrition practices by developing national clinical practice guidelines, standardized protocols, and quality indicators that improve patient outcomes and ensure safe nutrition support.

Strengthen Education & Professional Development

Provide high-quality education through annual conferences, workshops, webinars, certification programs, continuing professional development (CPD/CME/CNE), and specialized training courses for nutrition support professionals.

Promote Research & Innovation

Encourage multidisciplinary research in clinical nutrition, facilitate collaborative projects, support scientific publications, and promote innovation that addresses Pakistan's healthcare challenges in nutrition support.

Develop National Nutrition Support Teams

Advocate for the establishment and strengthening of multidisciplinary Nutrition Support Teams (NSTs) in hospitals nationwide, ensuring collaborative patient-centered care across physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, and nurses.

Establish National Standards

Develop national standards for nutrition screening, nutritional assessment, enteral and parenteral nutrition, home nutrition support, and quality improvement programs to ensure consistent, evidence-based clinical practice.

Build Professional Capacity

Expand PSPEN membership by engaging physicians, clinical dietitians, pharmacists, nurses, researchers, students, and allied health professionals while fostering leadership development, mentorship, and networking.

Influence Healthcare Policy

Collaborate with government agencies, institutions, regulatory bodies, universities, and professional organizations to integrate clinical nutrition into national healthcare policies, accreditation standards, and practice.

Improve Patient Safety & Quality of Care

Promote standardized nutrition screening, early intervention, safe compounding, infection prevention, monitoring protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Increase Public Awareness

Raise awareness among patients, caregivers, and the public about the importance of clinical nutrition in disease prevention, treatment, recovery, and long-term health through campaigns and community engagement.

Develop strategic partnerships with national and international societies, academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and industry partners to facilitate knowledge exchange, research, and professional development.
